ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed for the following reliefs:- “directing the 2nd respondent to absorb and Re-assign the petitioners service in the Information Technology wing from the Electrical Department, Corporation of Chennai against the sanctioned post by retaining the petitioner working as System analyst in the Information Technology wing, Corporation of Chennai , Head Office, Ripon Buildings, considering the petitioners representation dated 08.06.2026.” 2. The case of the petitioner is that he was initially appointed by the 2nd respondent to an entry-level post in the Corporation of Chennai. Taking into consideration his educational qualifications, he was subsequently transferred and posted as a Junior Assistant in the Accounts Section. Thereafter, in view of his qualifications and expertise in Computer Science Engineering, he was assigned duties in the Information Technology Wing. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 26472 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 5 3. The petitioner would submit that though he was originally appointed as a Junior Assistant and has since been promoted to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer as reflected in his Service Register under the Electrical Engineering Department, he has, for the past 17 years, been continuously discharging duties in the Information Technology Wing. Upon promotion, he has been functioning as a System Analyst in the Information Technology Wing, which is equivalent to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer. 4. Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation dated 08.06.2026 to the respondents seeking absorption and re-designation/re- assignment of his post and service to the Information Technology Wing, having regard to the nature of duties continuously performed by him. However, the said representation has not been considered by the respondents. Hence, the present Writ Petition. 5. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records. 6. Considering the relief sought for by the petitioner and in the absence of any serious objection from the learned counsel appearing for the respondents, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 08.06.2026 and pass appropriate https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 26472 of 2026 __________ Page4 of 5 orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 7.
