The present criminal misc. application has been filed by the applicant seeking a direction to expedite the proceedings of Criminal Case No. 913 of 2017, under Sections 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, pending in the Court of learned 5th ACJM, Dehradun. 4. Learned counsel for the applicant would submit that he has filed his objection in the aforesaid criminal case and in his objection, he has categorically stated that the respondent no. 1 is not his legally wedded wife and the aforesaid criminal case is pending since 2017. Learned counsel for the applicant would further submit that prolonged pendency of the trial is causing continuous uncertainty and hardship to the applicant. Thus, it would be expedient if the trial is concluded expeditiously. Hence, a direction for expeditious disposal of the case has been prayed for. 5. Heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the record. 6. Perusal of the ordersheet would reveal that criminal case was filed in the year 2017 and since then more than 80 times, adjournments have been sought on behalf of respondent no. 1. 7. Having considered the submissions advanced by learned counsel for the applicant and taking into account the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is of the view that the interest of justice would be served by directing the trial court to expedite the proceedings of Criminal Case No. 913 of 2017. 8. Accordingly, the present criminal misc. application is disposed of with a direction to the court concerned to make all possible endeavours to conclude the proceedings of Criminal Case No. 913 of 2017, pending in the Court of learned 5th ACJM, Dehradun, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six months from the date of production of a certified copy of this order, without granting unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties. 9.
