The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was unable to utilise the said pathway for the past six months, since the respondents 4 to 6 are continuously objecting. 3. It is seen that there is a civil dispute pending between the parties and therefore, police protection cannot be granted for clearing the pathway or securing access and the petitioner ought to have approached the competent Civil Court for appropriate relief. 4. This Court is of the view that police protection cannot be granted in a civil dispute. However, it is made clear that if any cognizable offence is committed by respondents 4 to 6, the 3rd respondent shall take immediate action in accordance with law. 5.
