For Petitioner(s): M/r.M.Venkatakrishnan For Respondent(s): Ms.Varshini C.G.T.N. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis 2 CONT P No. 509 of 2026 ORDER When the matter was taken up for hearing today, it is brought to the notice of this Court that the writ appeal filed in WA.No.63 of 2026 came to be disposed by the Hon'ble First Bench by order dated 09.06.2026 and the relevant portions are extracted hereunder 3. In the said status report, it stated that the Government has accorded financial sanction vide G.O.Ms.No.(D) No.635, Home (Police X) Department, dated 05.05.2026 for a sum of Rs.3,38,17,146/- towards arrears amount of rent from 01.01.2022 to 31.03.2026 and the arrears amount has been paid to the land owners for the aforesaid period through ECS on 15.05.2026 and they have acknowledged the receipt. 4. Learned Advocate General also ensures that the revised monthly rent will be paid to the land owners regularly in future. 5. In view of the aforesaid, nothing survives for adjudication in the writ appeal. Accordingly, the appeal is closed. There will be no order as to costs. Consequently, CMP No.665 of 2026 is closed 2.The learned Additional Advocate General filed the status report of the 2nd respondent and the relevant portions are extracted hereunder: 5) It is respectfully further submitted that, as per the orders of the Hon'ble High Court a proposal has been sent to the Government on 06.02.2026, for sanctioning of an amount of Rs. 3,38,17,146/- (Rupees Three Crores Thirty-Eight Lakhs Seventeen Thousand Hundred and https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis 3 CONT P No. 509 of 2026 Forty-Six Only), for arrears of rent for the period from 01.01.2022 to 31.03.2026 and an amount of Rs.2,15,53,809/ - (Rupees Two Crores Fifteen Lakhs Fifty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred and Nine Only, towards the revised rent as ordered by single judge dated: 11.08.2025, for the period from 01.04.2026 to 31.03.2027. 6) In this regard the Government have accorded Financial Sanction vide G.O.Ms.No.(D) No.635, Home (Police-X) Department dated: 05.05.2026, for a sum of Rs.3,38,17,146/- (Rupees Three Crore Thirty-Eight Lakhs Seventeen Thousand One Hundred and Forty-Six only), towards rental arrears amount for the period from 01.01.2022 to 31.03.2026, the same has been paid to the owners of the building through ECS on 15.05.2026 and obtained necessary acknowledgement. 7)It is further submitted that the writ appeal No.63/26 has been closed by the Hon'ble Division Bench on 09.06.2026 in view of the substantial complaints of the directions issued by the single Judge on 11.08.2025, the rent for the building owned by the 2nd respondent has been paid up to 31.03.2026. 8) It is further submitted that, as per the order of the Hon ble Single Judge dated 11.08.2025, the monthly rent has been revised to Rs.14,85,036/- plus 18% GST of Rs.2,67,306/-, totaling Rs.17,52,342/-. The Government has directed that the said expenditure be included in the budget proposal for the Revised Budget Estimate 2026-2027 vide G.O. (D) No. 635, dated 05.05.2026. Accordingly, the revised rent, effective from 01.04.2026, will be paid regularly upon receipt of the necessary budget allocation. However, the revised rent for the month of April & May - 26, have been paid to the petitioners through ECS on 16.06.2026. 3.The learned Additional Advocate General by relying upon the status report submitted that as per the order passed in the writ petition, the monthly rent has been revised and the revised rent has been paid up to May 2026. It is submitted that the arrears of rent if any will also be paid shortly. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis 4 CONT P No. 509 of 2026 4.In the light of the above development, no further orders are required to be passed in this contempt petition. If in case of any violation of the order at a future date, it is always left open to the petitioner to revive the contempt petition.
