The prayer in the writ petition is for a mandamus to consider the representation dated 21.05.2026 whereunder the wife of a convict presently lodged in Central Prison, Vellore seeks ordinary leave for 28 days without escort. 2. On instructions, Mr.C.R.Malarvannan, learned Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu, submits that even if the representation were to be considered now, result will be adverse to the convict, as he is yet to complete the mandatory period of three years of incarceration before consideration of granting leave under the Tamil Nadu Suspension of Sentence Rules, 1982. 3. Since the date of conviction is 09.06.2023, he would complete three years only on 10.08.2026 having regard to the leave availed which is to be excluded in computing three years period. 4.
