Petitioners have filed this writ petition seeking following reliefs: “10.1 Hon'ble Court may kindly be please to call the record in respect of pay fixation of petitioners. 10.2 Hon'ble Court may kindly be please to direct the Respondent authority to dispel the discrepancy in the pay scale of petitioners, from 01/01/2016, as per the recommendation of respondent authority. 10.3 Hon'ble Court may kindly be please to direct the Respondent authority to grant the pay scale to the petitioner as per the norms of UGC pay matrix. 10.4 Hon'ble Court may kindly be please to direct the Respondent authority to grant the 7th pay scale as per recommendation of 7 / 8 authority/UGC pay matrix with 18% interest. 10.5 Hon'ble Court may kindly be pleased to grant any other relief which this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case. 10.6 Award costs of the petition in favour of the Petitioner.” 2. Counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioners are holding the post of Associate Professor and posted at the Medical College. After coming into the effect of the 7th Pay Scale, the discrepancy crept in the pay scale of the Level 18-B. After taking note of the said discrepancy, Director, Medical Education, wrote letter to the ‘respondent No. 1 making proposals for amending the pay scale of Level 18-B and thereafter again the letter was forwarded on 18.07.2019 in this regard specifically mentioning the proposal for amending the pay scale for 18- B Level. He also pointed out that letter dated 04.10.2023 was also forwarded in this regard to the respondent No. 1, however, till date respondent No. 1 has not taken any decision on the proposal forwarded by the competent authority. 3. Counsel for the State submits that he may be granted time to file reply. 4. I have heard counsel for the parties. 5. The grievance of the petitioner is that after implementation of he 7th Pay Scale according to the Director Medical Education, some discrepancy crept in the Pay of Level 18-B for which the proposal is forwarded for its amendment. The proposal was forwarded initially on 23.10.2018 and since then according to the petitioner, no decision has been taken by respondent No. 1. 6. In the aforementioned facts of the case and considering that the Director Medical Education has already submitted a proposal for consideration of the respondent No. 1 in the year 2018, since then is it 8 / 8 pending since last about 7 years, I find it appropriate to dispose of this writ petition, at this stage, directing respondent No. 1 to consider and take decision on the proposal forwarded by the Director Medical Education dated 23.10.2018 for amendment in the Pay Scale of Level 18-B of Associate Professors, at the earliest, preferably within a further period of six months from the date of receipt of the representation.
