Mr. Rajveer Singh, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Mr. Sandeep Sharma, learned A.G.A. for the State. 3. Petitioner Smt. Mamta, D/o Sheeshpal and Gurmeet Kumar, S/o Hukum Singh praying for adequate protection since there is regular threat perception from respondent nos. 4 and 5 who are father and brother of petitioner no. 1. 4. It is contended in the petition that both are major and known to each other since last two years and were in love and now they married on 28.04.2026 at Roorkee and certificate in this regard is also enclosed as Annexure-2. With regard to their age, copies of Aadhar cards have been enclosed according to which both are major. With regard to the threat, written complaint has been made to the S.S.P. Haridwar. 5. Mr. Sandeep Sharma, learned A.G.A. for the State have not disputed on their age, however, he submits that their marriage is not registered. 6. On this, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that since there is regular threat, therefore, they could not proceed to get their marriage register but shortly they will apply for registration of their marriage. 7. After taking into consideration age of both the parties and the marriage certificate, admittedly both are major, therefore, if there is any threat perception, local administration is under legal obligation to take appropriate steps. 8. In such view of the matter, the instant writ petition is disposed of with the direction to the S.S.P. Haridwar to assess the threat perception to the petitioners from respondent no. 4 and 5, if any, and if comes to the conclusion that there is any threat then take appropriate steps. In addition to this, S.H.O. concerned shall call upon respondent no. 4 and 5 and advise them not to take law in their hands. (Rakesh Thapliyal, J.) 07.05.2026 Parul
