The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that in the petitioner's village, there are so many deities worshipped by the villagers. Among these, Arulmigu Sri Kottaiadiyanswamy and Arulmigu Sri Sadayandi temple exclusively belong to Ulaga Thevar Pangalis. For nearly 300 years, the temple festival has been celebrated continuously every year during the month of Aadi without interruption. This year, the temple festival is scheduled to be held from 15.07.2026 to 18.07.2026. Seeking to provide police protection, the petitioner had sent a representation on 25.06.2026. Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials available on record. 4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the 2nd respondent is directed to provide adequate police protection during the annual festival celebration of Arulmigu Sri Kottaiadiyanswamy and Arulmigu Sri Sadayandi temple situated at Mettunirethan Village, Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai District and Pranaprathista (Consecration) of two idols namely Lord Vinayaga and Lord Muruga which is to be scheduled from 15.07.2026 to 17.07.2026, on payment of necessary charges in terms of G.O(Ms)No.139, Home (Pol-VIII) Department, dated 04.03.2019. 5.
