Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner has made a representation dated 16.06.2026 before the first respondent, seeking cancellation of patta, which was wrongly issued in favour of the third respondent. However, the said representation was not considered, as on date. Hence, this writ petition. 3. Mr.B.Pachaiyappan, learned Government's Counsel takes notice on behalf of respondents 1 & 2 and submitted that the power to cancel a patta is vested with the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO). However, in the case on hand, the petitioner has sent a representation to the District Revenue Officer/first respondent, who lacks authority to order such a cancellation. 4. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record. 5. Since the cancellation power is vested with the Revenue Divisional Officer, this Court directs the petitioner to make a fresh representation seeking the cancellation of the patta before the concerned Revenue Divisional Officer within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of such representation, the concerned Revenue Divisional Officer is directed to dispose of the same, after issuing due notice to the petitioner as well https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 26015 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 4 as the third respondent and other aggrieved parties, if any, within a period of eight (8) weeks thereof.
