For Petitioner : Mr.P.Gunasekaran For Respondent : Mr.K.Saravanan, Standing Counsel 1/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P(MD)No.19223 of 2026 O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to correct the name of the petitioner as HISHAM HAJA instead of HISSAN HAJA in his birth certificate registered before the respondent vide registration No.4398/2007/04 dated 14.12.2007 and issue a fresh birth certificate based on the petitioner's representation dated 02.07.2026 within a time frame as stipulated by this Court. 2. Heard Mr. P.Gunasekaran, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, and Mr. K.Saravanan, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of the respondent. 3. By consent of both parties, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 4. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had submitted a representation dated 02.07.2026 to the respondent requesting correction of his name in the birth certificate registered with the 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P(MD)No.19223 of 2026 respondent vide Registration No.4398/2007/04 dated 14.12.2007, by substituting "HISHAM HAJA" in place of "HISSAN HAJA", and for the issuance of a fresh birth certificate. Since the said representation has not been considered till date, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition. 5. The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that, without going into the merits of the petitioner's claim, it would suffice if this Court issues a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 02.07.2026 and pass appropriate orders within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 6. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the first respondent has no serious objection to such a direction being issued. 7. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 02.07.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law.
