Sandeep Sharma, Judge (Oral) Pursuant to order dated 31.12.2025, respondent-State has filed status report, perusal whereof reveals that out of 49 witnesses, 43 stand examined and for recording statements of remaining witnesses, matter has been fixed for 2.2.2026. 2. Having taken note of the fact that trial is nearing conclusion coupled with the fact that the bail petitioner is accused of a heinous offence, this Court is not inclined to accept the prayer made on his behalf for grant of bail. 3. In view of above, learned counsel for the petitioner seeks permission to withdraw the petition, with liberty to file afresh, at an appropriate stage, if so advised. Having taken note of the fact that six witnesses remain to be examined, this Court hopes and trusts that learned trial Court would make all out efforts to conclude the trial, expeditiously, on or before 15.3.2026, failing which the petitioner would be at liberty to approach this court, for grant of bail. 5. Otherwise also, this Court on administrative and judicial sides has been directing the trial courts to expedite the trials of under-trials, so that their freedom is not curtailed for an indefinite period.
