376 06.10.2026 Ct. No.6 b.das IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA Circuit Bench at Jalpaiguri Constitutional Writ Jurisdiction WPA No. 2900 of 2026 Jinnatun Begam Vs. The Election Commission of India & Ors. Mr. Shamim ul Bari Mr. Sisir Kr. Roy Ms. Asmita Mitra …for the petitioner. Mr. Shubhankar Dutta Mr. T. K. Roy …for the State. Ms. Anamika Pandey Ms. Madhushri Dutta …for the ECI. Heard learned counsels for the parties. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner having EPIC no. TIV1577964 has preferred an appeal against deletion of name in the Special Intensive Revision process before the designated Appellate Tribunal. The petitioner seeks expeditious disposal of the appeal. Learned counsel for the Election Commission of India submits that a huge number of appeals are pending before the learned Appellate Tribunal which are being disposed of on a day to day basis. Upon consideration of the submission made on behalf of the parties and also in view of the fact 2 that the appeal is pending for a considerable period of time, learned Appellate Tribunal is requested to consider and dispose of the appeal as expeditiously as possible, in accordance with law. It is made clear that this Court has not gone into the merits of the claim of the petitioner made in the appeal and all issues are left open to be decided by the learned Appellate Tribunal in accordance with law. The writ petition is disposed of. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh, J.)
