This is the second round of litigation. In the earlier round of litigation, in W.P.No.23489 of 2024 dated 12.08.2024, this Court directed respondents to pay a compensation of Rs.5,00,000/- to petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of that order and after receipt of compensation, petitioner was at liberty to file a claim petition before the concerned District Legal Services Authority. Pursuant to the above orders of this Court, petitioner had approached the District Legal Services Authority claiming additional/enhanced compensation. The District Legal Services Authority vide proceedings dated 14.10.2025 granted an interim compensation of Rs.1,00,000/- in addition to Rs.5,00,000/-, which was already paid pursuant to the orders of this Court. 3. Learned counsel for the respondents 3 to 6 would submit that order of District Legal Services Authority is only interim in nature and final compensation would have to be decided by District Legal Services Authority. Petitioner can have grievance only after the final compensation is determined by District Legal Services Authority. However, learned counsel for petitioner would submit that he was informed by District Legal Services Authority that application has been finally disposed of vide proceedings dated 14.10.2025 although the order uses the nomenclature, interim compensation. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No.24634 of 2026 __________ Page4 of 6 4. In view of the above, present prayer for a writ of mandamus appears to be premature. This Court is inclined to dispose of writ petition with following direction: i) District Legal Services Authority shall clarify whether the order dated 14.10.2025 is by way of a final determination of compensation or interim compensation, if it is final determination If it is only interim payment of compensation, they shall proceed to determine the final compensation, within a period of eight weeks from the date of uploading of web copy without waiting for the receipt of certified copy. ii) If petitioner is aggrieved, it is always open to petitioner to seek redressal in the manner known to law. 5. Registry is directed to mark a copy to District Legal Services Authority.
