Guruprasad Government Counsel ORDER The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider and pass orders on the petitioner’s representation dated 25.08.2025. 2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner, a resident of Kandiyankuppam Village, has stated that the District Backward and Most Backward Classes Welfare Officer, by proceedings dated 23.09.2022, acquired 1.04.0 hectares (2.57 acres) of land in Survey No. 72/2C for the purpose of providing house sites to eligible beneficiaries. The land was subsequently subdivided into 63 plots, and 17 beneficiaries were duly selected by the competent authority for allotment. However, despite their selection, freehold pattas have not been issued to the genuine beneficiaries. Instead, it is alleged that pattas are being granted to politically influential persons who were not part of the approved list, thereby depriving the lawful beneficiaries of their entitlement. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 25.08.2025 to the respondents requesting the issuance of freehold pattas. __________ Page2 of 5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 24359 of 2026 Since the said representation has not been considered till date, the petitioner has been constrained to file the present Writ Petition. 3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. M. Guruprasad, Government Counsel for the respondents. 4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and the submissions made on either side, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 25.08.2025 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. The respondents shall evaluate the petitioner's request for the issuance of a freehold patta under any existing free house-site scheme, subject to the availability of plots and the petitioner fulfilling the eligibility criteria. 5.
