06.10.2026 Serial no. 38 [G.S.Das] Assistant Registrar (Court) CRM (NDPS) 2021 of 2026 In re : An Application for Bail under Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973/under Section 483 of the BNSS, 2023 in connection with Narayangarh PS Case No. 206 of 2024 dated 11.09.2024 u/s 20(b)(ii)/29 of the NDPS Act read with sections 336(3)/318(4)/3(5) of the BNS. -And- In the matter of : Sentu Sk. … Petitioner(s) Mr. Mrityunjay Chatterjee Mr. Debarnab Adhikary … for the Petitioner(s) Mr. Krishnendu Bhattacharya, APP Ms. Tanusree Kar … for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than two years; charge- sheet has already been submitted and charges have been framed. Learned advocate also submits that eight witnesses have been examined out of the 31 witnesses cited by the prosecution. Therefore, learned advocate prays that the petitioner may be released on bail on any stringent conditions. State opposes the prayer for bail as more than 93 kg of ganja were recovered in the present case and the petitioner was available along with the other persons in the vehicle when the seizure took place. 2 Having regard to the huge quantity of seizure in the present case, last opportunity is granted to the prosecution to complete rest of the witnesses within eight months from the date of communication of this order. Having considered the quantum of seizure, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail at this stage. Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected. However, the petitioner will renew his prayer for bail after the aforesaid time period is over. Accordingly, CRM (NDPS) 2021 of 2026 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.) 3
