Upon hearing the learned counsel appearing on either side and on perusal of the records, it is seen that the occurrence arose out of a dispute between friends. The case has been registered for the offences under Sections 296 (b), 115(2), 75(2), 351 (3) of BNS, read with Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002. The petitioner as well as the de facto complainant are present before this Court and have affirmed the compromise arrived at between them and requested that the proceedings be quashed. 3. Considering the nature of the allegations, the relationship between the parties, and the overall facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is of the view that this is a fit case for the exercise of its inherent jurisdiction under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, within the parameters laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Gian Singh -Vs State of Punjab & another, case, reported in 2012 (10) SCC 303. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis CRL OP No. 16833 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 4 4.
