When the matter came up for consideration on 25.03.2026, learned counsel on either side represented that there is a scope for amicable settlement of the matter between the parties and therefore, made a request to place the matter before the Mediation Centre. Accordingly, the matter was placed before the Mediation and Conciliation Centre, attached to the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, Madurai, and the petitioner and the Secretary of the respondent – School arrived at certain terms and accordingly, a Settlement Agreement dated 25.06.2026 has been entered into between them agreeing the following terms: “8.The following settlement has been arrived at between the Parties hereto: • Both parties agreed that to secure smooth functioning of the institution and it is necessary to settle out standing disputes in Mediation. • The Petitioner agrees that the Writ Petition in W.P. (MD) No.6163 of 2026 and the Contempt Petition in ____________ https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.(MD) No.6163 of 2026 Cont.P.(MD) No.1788 of 2025 may be closed by this Hon'ble Court in the light of the Mediation agreement arrived herein. • Both parties agrees that the gross amount of Rs.42,00,000/- (approximate) derives into Rs.38,00,000/- (approximate) of net amount. • As far as the payment of arrears is concerned, the amount is arrived and finalized as Rs.38,00,000/- (Rupees Thirty Eight Lakhs Only). • Both parties agreed that the total amount of Rs.38,00,000/- (Thirty Eight Lakhs Only) will be disbursed to the Petitioner by the Respondent in 20 (Twenty) half yearly instalments of Rs.1,90,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Ninety Thousand Only). The instalments shall be paid during the 1st week of July and first week of January every year. • The Respondent, in accordance with the terms of the agreement has revoked the suspension of the Petitioner on 27.04.2026 and the Petitioner joined in service instantly. • The Respondent has no objection to the claim of the Petitioner for the continuity of service during the period of dismissal as well as the two months of suspension period.” ____________ https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.(MD) No.6163 of 2026 3. In the light of the above, this writ petition stands disposed of in terms of the Settlement Agreement dated 25.06.2026.
