No. 2612/2004/01 dated 16.08.2004 and reissue the same by considering the petitioner's representation dated 03.06.2026 in the light of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette dated 21.12.2016 and all other supporting documents. 2. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. Since no adverse order is going to be passed, notice to the respondent is dispensed with. 3.The petitioner has produced the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette dated 21.12.2016, evidencing the change of his son's name from "Ulaganathan" to "Arun.S.M.". The petitioner has also produced the relevant supporting documents in support of the request for correction. In such circumstances, the provisions of Section 15 of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, cannot 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P(MD)No.18626 of 2026 be construed so rigidly as to deny the authority the power to carry out the necessary correction or amendment in the birth register. This Court has, on several earlier occasions, taken a similar view, including in W.P.(MD) No.13468 of 2023, by order dated 13.07.2023. 4. In view of the above, there shall be a direction to the respondent to carry out the necessary correction in the birth register by changing the petitioner's son's name from "Ulaganathan" to "Arun.S.M." and to issue a revised birth certificate, if otherwise in order, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 03.06.2026, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5. With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of.
