ORDER The present criminal original petition has been filed by the Accused Nos.1, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 in Crime No.225 of 2025 on the file of the Inspector of Police, Kallikudi Police Station, Madurai District seeking to quash the FIR wherein the petitioners charged with the offences under Sections 191(2), 296(b), 115(2), 132, and 351(2) of BNS, 2023 and Section 3(1) of Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992. 2.A perusal of the FIR reveals that the daughter of the fourth accused eloped with the son of the eighth accused. The police officials have called both the parties for enquiry in the police station. Due to some wordy quarrel among the parties in the police station, the accused are said to have been damaged the properties in the police station and some of them are said to have attacked the police official and also abused. 3.One of the accused had filed Crl.O.P.(MD)No.7779 of 2026 before this Court and the same was allowed on 22.04.2026 with the condition to provide a water purifier to the respondent police station. 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis CRL.OP.(MD)No.12253 of 2026 4.The present criminal original petition has been filed by the other accused persons seeking to quash the same FIR. 5.According to the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, wordy quarrel arose between the parties due to the elopement of the daughter of the fourth accused with the son of the eighth accused. The couple are living happily. The family members are arrayed as accused and therefore, he seeks to quash the FIR. 6.Considering the above said facts, continuation of the criminal proceedings against the petitioners would only be an abuse of process of law. Hence, the FIR in Crime No.225 of 2025 registered on the file of the Inspector of Police, Kallikudi Police Station, Madurai District stands quashed. This criminal original petition is allowed.
