However, the second respondent, namely, the Tahsildar, does not have any jurisdiction whatsoever to conduct the enquiry. That apart, the enquiry initiated on 10.06.2026 has already been completed and, therefore, a second enquiry cannot be initiated by the Tahsildar. 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis CRL.OP.(MD)No.12510 of 2026 3.Per contra, the learned Government Advocate(Crl.side) appearing for the respondents submitted that there is a dispute between the two groups in conducting the temple festival. The keys of the temple has been are retained by the second petitioner. In such circumstances, there is a request from the general public of the locality to open the temple for daily poojas and therefore, meeting has been conducted. 4.Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the available records. 5.As far as the compliance of the order in WP.CRL.(MD)No.3035 of 2026, dated 09.06.2026 is concerned, only the Revenue Divisional Officer, Kovilpatti has been directed to conduct the peace committee meeting and in such circumstances, the present summons issued by the second respondent is not sustainable in the eye of the law and therefore, the same is quashed. 3/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis CRL.OP.(MD)No.12510 of 2026 6.The Revenue Divisional Officer, Kovilpatti is directed to conduct the enquiry and find a solution, not only for conducting daily poojas, but also for conducting kodai festival for the year 2027. 7.With the above direction, this criminal original petition stands disposed of.
