No.12613 of 2026 Sections 465, 467 and 471 of IPC, in Crime No.286 of 2025, on the file of the respondent police seeks anticipatory bail. 2. The allegation against the petitioner is that the petitioner herein is the distant relative of the defacto complainant, and he collected a sum of Rs.270,000/- from 2022 to 2024 by giving a false promise that he would get patta for the land that the defacto complainant is in possession and enjoying. When the defacto complainant demanded the patta,he handed over the bogus patta. Hence, the case. 3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is innocent and he has not committed any such offence as alleged by the prosecution and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He further submitted that there is 2 years of inordinat delay in registration of FIR and the petitioner has no previous antecedent. Hence, he prayed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), appearing for the 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis CRL OP(MD). No.12613 of 2026 respondent police, reiterated the prosecution case and, on instructions, submitted that though the FIR has been registered in the year 2025, on investigation, it came to know that the petitioner has been involved in a similar kind of offense, and hence, with regard to that, an investigation is going on. Hence, he opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 5.I have gone through the FIR and also the connected materials, and it reveals that though the defacto complainant served a purported patta by the petitioner herein, subsequently the defacto complainant produced the same before the District Revenue Officer for the purpose of redressing his grievance, and thereafter only registration of FIR has been ordered, and accordingly, case has been registered. Though the FIR has been pending for a long time, it is enquired by the respondent police, and on enquiry, it came to know that several persons have been cheated by the petitioner herein. Considering the same, I am not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner, at this stage. 6.
