ORAL JUDGMENT Heard Sri.Guruprasad B.R., learned counsel for the appellants as well as Sri. B.C. Shivanne Gowda, learned counsel for respondent No.1. 2. Being aggrieved by the sum that is awarded as compensation and contending that the amount awarded is grossly low, the claimants in MVC No.909/2014 that stood pending before the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Mangaluru D.K. and was disposed of through the order dated 24.09.2019 are before this Court. 3. Thus, on taking the notional income as ¹9,000/- per month, adding 40% towards future prospects, deducting 50% towards personal and living expenses which the deceased would have incurred for himself had he been alive and applying multiplier '18' as per the decision of the Hon'ble Apex Court in the case of Sarla Verma and Others v. Delhi Transport Corporation and Another, reported in 2009 SAR (Civ) 592, the compensation which the first appellant who is the mother of the deceased is entitled to receive towards loss of dependency is as under: Description Amount (Rs.) Notional monthly income 09,000-00 Annual income (09,000 x 12) 1,08,000-00 On adding 40% towards future prospects (1,08,000+40%) 1,51,200-00 On deducting 50% towards personal and living expenses 75,600-00 Loss of dependency on applying appropriate multiplier '18' (75,600x18) 13,60,800-00

Also the appellants are entitled to ¹15,000/- towards funeral expenses and ¹15,000/- towards loss of estate. Further, the first appellant is entitled to a sum of ¹40,000/- towards loss of filial consortium.
That apart, the appellants are entitled to a sum of ¹2,93,378.25 towards medical expenses. Hence, the entitlement of the appellants for compensation under different heads is as under: Sl. No Heads of compensation
