CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE D K SINGH and HON'BLE MS. JUSTICE TARA VITASTA GANJU
ORAL ORDER (PER: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE D K SINGH)
The present writ petition has been filed impugning the award dated 01.08.2019 passed by the Central Government Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Court, Bengaluru (for short 'the CGIT') in C.R.No.54/2002.
2. It appears that the petitioners had worked as contract labourers with the respondent- Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (for short 'the Corporation') for about 2 to 3 years before their services were dispensed with, however without complying the mandate of Section 25(F) of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
3. Considering the aforesaid fact, the CGIT has awarded lumpsum compensation of Rs.50,000/- to each of the petitioners towards their past services.
4.
Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the amount of compensation fixed by the CGIT is very meager and requires some enhancement.

HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:4882-DB WP No. 10857 of 2021
5. We put it to Smt. H.R. Renuka, learned counsel appearing for the respondent - Corporation who has left it to the discretion of this Court to enhance the amount of compensation.
6. Considering the aforesaid submissions, we deem it appropriate that further enhancement of compensation of Rs.50,000/- to each of the petitioners would do the complete justice. Therefore, we order that a further sum of Rs.50,000/- to be paid as compensation by the respondent-Corporation to each of the petitioners/their legal heirs within a period of six weeks from today.
7. With the aforesaid direction, the writ petition stands
disposed of.
8. In view of disposal of the writ petition, pending interlocutory applications, if any, do not survive for consideration and accordingly, they stand disposed of.
