The present Civil Miscellaneous Petition has been instituted, seeking a direction to fix a time limit for disposal of I.D.No.3 of 2013. 2. Division Bench of this Court, while passing judgment in W.A.No.3881 of 2019 directed Tribunal to dispose of the matter within a period of one month from 19.12.2019, i.e. the date of judgment. However, Tribunal could not be able to dispose of the matter and subsequently filed an application seeking extension of time. Finally, this Court passed an order dated 14.10.2025 recorded the fact that the Presiding Officer of Tribunal requested for extension of time mainly on the ground that there are voluminous oral evidences running into 186 pages and documentary evidences running into 6716 pages, in addition to electronic evidences of M.O.1 to M.O.8 to be considered for disposal of the case. Considering the voluminous of documents involved in the case, this Court directed the Tribunal to dispose of the matter as expeditiously as possible without granting unnecessary adjournments on flimsy grounds. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis C.M.P.No.14331 of 2026 in W.A.No.1096 of 2023 __________ Page3 of 4 3. Mr.V.Prakash, learned Senior Counsel for the petitioner would mainly contend that despite the said direction, the matter is still pending and not disposed of. Already 8 months lapsed from the date of passing of the order by this Court. 4. No doubt, on earlier occasion, Presiding Officer of Tribunal filed application, seeking extension of time mainly on the ground that documentary evidences running 6716 pages are to be considered along with electronic evidences. However, 8 months lapsed. Citing number of documents and evidences, no matter can be prolonged for an indefinite period. Courts are expected to take efforts to ensure that such substantial matters are also disposed within a reasonable period of time. The practice of disposing of simple matters and keeping heavy matters pending can, at no circumstances be encouraged. Easy matters are disposed with an idea to get disposal of more number of cases. However, Courts are expected to thrive hard to ensure that heavy matters are also disposed of periodically. This exact is the reason why certain heavy matters involving important issues are kept pending for indefinite period, which is not advisable. Irrespective of voluminous of documents or other evidences, at least one point of time, Courts must take up matters and dispose of the same on merits. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis C.M.P.No.14331 of 2026 in W.A.No.1096 of 2023 __________ Page4 of 4 S.M.SUBRAMANIAM,J. AND N.SENTHILKUMAR,J. AR 5. In the present case, one month initially granted by Division Bench of this Court expired in January, 2020. However, after a lapse of 5 years, this Court directed by order dated 14.10.2025 to dispose the matter as expeditiously as possible. Therefore, this Court is of the considered view that Tribunal has to take up the matter and dispose of the same without seeking any further time or extension. With the above observations, the present Miscellaneous Petition stands disposed of. (S.M.S.,J.)
