Mr. Avidit Noliyal, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent no.6. 4. In sequel to the order dated 22.04.2026, the corpus is brought in Court by Ms. Reena Kumar Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Uttarakhand Police, Ranipur Kotwali, District Haridwar. Her brother Akshaya and petitioner are also physically present, who are identified by their counsels. 5. The corpus - Rakhi Devi D/o Vijay Pal stated that her date of birth is 01.01.2004; she is major and competent to take independent decisions. She submitted that she was in love with petitioner (Abhishek) and marriage was solemnized between them at Shiv Mandir, Roshanabad, District Haridwar on 01.10.2025. She further stated that she wants to live with petitioner; she had called her brother Mr. Akshaya on 07.04.2026 as she was not feeling well and was feeling lonely as petitioner had gone out of station for business work. 6. Petitioner submitted that he and the corpus were in a relationship and they got married with their free will and he assured that he will take good care of the 2026:UHC:3167-DB corpus and will protect her from any kind of trouble. 7. Learned counsel for the petitioner produced in Court the print out of instagram chats, which is taken on record. Based on the said document, he submits that Mr. Akshaya, brother of the corpus is extending threats to petitioner, therefore, protection may be provided to petitioner and his wife. 8. Akshaya, the brother of the corpus is also present in Court. He assures that he will not cause any harm to petitioner or the corpus and also assures that his father and brothers will also not cause any harm to them. 9. Learned State Counsel fairly submitted that since both petitioner and corpus are major and they have voluntarily entered into matrimonial alliance without there being any threat or coercion, hence in view of the law laid down by the Hon’ble Apex Court in the case of Lata Singh Vs. State of U.P. and Another; 2006 (5) SCC 475, they shall be given protection. 10. We, therefore, dispose of the writ petition with direction to S.S.P., District Haridwar (respondent no.2) to provide adequate protection to petitioner and corpus (Smt. Rakhi Devi) for a period of three months and ensure that no harm is caused to them by respondent nos. 4 to 9 or by any other person acting on their behest during this period. Upon expiry of three months, S.S.P./respondent no.2 shall make assessment of threat perception to petitioner and the corpus, and provide protection to them, if needed, for such further period, as is felt necessary. The S.S.P. shall depute some responsible police officer to counsel family members of 2026:UHC:3167-DB corpus to desist from taking law into their hands. The corpus shall be at liberty to join the company of petitioner. 11. Mr. Avidit Noliyal, Advocate undertakes to file his Vakalatnama in the Registry within 24 hours on behalf of respondent no.6.
