Mr. Kaushal Sah Jagati, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Mr. Bhaskar Chandra Joshi, learned A.G.A. for the State. 3. The petitioners Smt. Afifa and Harpreet Singh, who belongs to different religion are now before this court seeking adequate protection since there is regular threat from respondent nos. 4 and 5 the parents of the petitioner no. 1. 4. It is contended in the petition that both are major and were in love and now married with each other on 18.04.2026 at Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Bajpur. It is argued that since the petitioner no. 1 belongs to a different religion and, therefore, her parents respondent nos. 4 and 5 are deadly against their marriage and now giving regular threat. 5. With regard to their age proof Aadhar card and school leaving certificates have been enclosed. 6. Mr. Joshi, learned A.G.A. have not disputed on their age as well as marriage. 7. Now, taking into consideration their age and the fact that both of them were in love and now married on 18.04.2026 without any compulsion, this court is of the view that if there is any threat perception from respondent nos. 4 and 5 the police administration is under legal obligation to assess the same and give adequate protection. 8. Accordingly, instant writ petition is disposed of finally with the direction to the S.S.P. to assess the threat perception if any to the petitioner from respondent nos. 4 and 5 and if he comes to the conclusion that there is regular threat, take appropriate steps. 9.
