W.P.(MD) No.18255 of 2026 O R D E R Mrs.K.Porkodi, learned counsel for the Government of Tamil Nadu, takes notice for the respondents 1 to 6 and Mr.C.Karthik, learned counsel, takes notice for the seventh respondent. 2. With the consent of both sides, this writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage. 3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the Government of Tamil Nadu appearing for the respondents 1 to 6 and learned counsel appearing for the seventh respondent. 4. The petitioner was working as Revenue Assistant in the Revenue Department and retired from service in the year 2011 and he is a pensioner.
He suffered illness and accordingly, he claims to have undergone treatment by incurring a sum of Rs.6,88,367.31 and out of the said expenditure incurred by the petitioner, a sum of Rs.3,47,170/- was paid by the seventh respondent – Insurance Company as cashless treatment in favour of the hospital concerned and the balance amount of Rs.3,41,197/- is ____________ https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
W.P.(MD) No.18255 of 2026 concerned, the same was refused to be reimbursed by the seventh respondent by a letter dated 03.05.2024, on the ground that the maximum amount, for which the petitioner is entitled to under the relevant Scheme vide G.O.No.160, dated 26.06.2021, issued by the Finance (Salaries) Department) read with G.O.No.204, dated 01.07.2022, issued by the Finance (Pension) Department, has been paid. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner claims to have filed an appeal before the High Level Committee / second respondent as early as on
25.11.2025. However, as no action has been taken by the second respondent on the said appeal, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present writ petition seeking a direction to the second respondent for speedy disposal of the said appeal. 5. Learned counsel for the Government of Tamil Nadu appearing for the respondents 1 to 6, on instructions, submits that the appeal filed by the petitioner would be disposed of by the second respondent within a period of two weeks henceforth. 6. In the light of the above, without going into the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of directing the High Level Committee / second respondent to dispose of the appeal dated 25.11.2025 filed by the petitioner as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, by duly affording an opportunity to the seventh respondent – Insurance Company.
