2. Present C-528 application is filed with the prayer to set-aside/quash the charge sheet dated 05.04.2025, and the entire proceedings of Complaint Case No.2055 of 2024, pending in the Court of learned Judicial Magistrate-II, Roorkee, District Haridwar.
3. It is submitted that applicant no.1 is the brother-in-law and applicant no.2 is the mother- in-law of the respondent. The marriage of the respondent was solemnized with the brother of applicant no.1 on 01.12.2021. Subsequently, matrimonial discord arose between the parties, whereafter the respondent left her matrimonial home on 06.03.2022 and has since been residing at her parental home. Thereafter, the respondent initiated criminal proceedings against the applicants. It is further stated that on 19.02.2024, the husband of the respondent expired. Subsequently, the learned Judicial Magistrate-II, Roorkee, District Haridwar took cognizance in the matter and vide order dated 05.04.2025 summoned the applicants to face the trial. Hence, this criminal misc. application.
4. On 04.05.2026, parties appeared before this Court and were referred to mediation. As per the Mediator’s Report, the mediation proceedings have concluded successfully.
Learned counsel for the parties jointly submit that a settlement has been arrived at between the parties, which has been duly reduced into writing. Learned counsel for the respondent further submits that, in view of the settlement so arrived at, the respondent does not wish to pursue the present proceedings against the applicants.

Hon’ble Supreme Court, in a catena of its judgments, has observed that in cases where because of the compromise arrived at between the parties, possibility of conviction is remote and bleak, the High Court may quash the criminal proceedings as continuation of the same would cause great prejudice and injustice to the accused.
6. Following the aforesaid ratio, the criminal misc. application is allowed. As a result, entire proceedings of Complaint Case No.2055 of 2024, pending in the Court of learned Judicial Magistrate Second, Roorkee, District Haridwar, are hereby quashed. Settlement/Agreement dated 04.05.2026 shall form part of the order.
