Heard learned counsel for the petitioner, learned Assistant Government Pleader for Panchayat Raj and the learned Standing Counsel for the Gram Panchayat. 3. The petitioner claims to be a registered contractor engaged in the execution of civil works, and that he was entrusted with various works of the Panchayat Raj Department and the Roads & Buildings Department on a tender basis. It is the case of the petitioner that he was awarded a contract for execution of the above mentioned works under MGNREGS funds. It is the case of the petitioner that he executed the works to the satisfaction of the authorities concerned, and upon completion of the works, the respondents entered the same in the Measurement Books, and the value of the works were assessed at Rs.21,21,498/-. 4. It is the grievance of the petitioner that notwithstanding the completion of the works, the amount due towards the executed works has not been paid till date. According to the petitioner, although the works were completed, the respondent authorities are not releasing the admitted amounts payable to him. 10 SRK, J WP.No.32429 of 2025 Aggrieved by the non-payment of the said amounts, the petitioner filed the present Writ Petition. 5. Learned Assistant Government Pleader for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, on the basis of written instructions received from the Executive Engineer, PR Division, Nuzvid-8th respondent, submits that there is no dispute regarding the execution of the subject works. She further submits that an amount of Rs.66,91,806/- has already been paid to the petitioner, and that a balance amount of Rs.22,72,137/- remains payable. It is further submitted that the petitioner is entitled to receive the said balance amount of Rs.22,72,137/-, subject to statutory deductions. She also submits that proposals for the release of the requisite grant have already been forwarded to the competent authorities and seeks time for payment of the said amount. The written instructions are taken on record. 6. Having regard to the fact that there is no dispute with regard to the works executed by the petitioner and the amount payable to him, and in view of the submissions of the learned Assistant Government Pleader for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, the respondent authorities are directed to pay a sum of Rs.22,72,137/- to the petitioner within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 7. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
