By means of this writ petition, petitioner has sought a direction to the authorities to prohibit/restrict movement of heavy vehicles, particularly those engaged for transporting riverbed material from Gajraula Link Road, situate in village Gajraula, Tehsil Bazpur, District Udham Singh Nagar. 3. It is contended that heavy vehicles engaged in transporting sand and riverbed material from mining leases and storage/dumping sites pass through the link road in village Gajraula, which is causing immense problems for residents of the village and are also causing road accidents besides damaging the village road. 4. It is contended that there are four Primary Schools and one Intermediate college across the link road, besides one Anganwadi Centre, and due to movement of heavy vehicles on the said road, road accidents are occurring and the villagers are always apprehensive about safety of their children. 5. It is thus contended that movement of heavy vehicles on the aforesaid road should be prohibited and vehicles carrying sand and other riverbed materials should be diverted to Bannakhera road so 2026:UHC:3164-DB that villagers can live peacefully. 6. Learned State Counsel submits that petitioner can make representation to the District Magistrate, who shall look into the issues raised and take appropriate decision, as per law. 7. Having regard to the enormity of the problem faced by villagers, we dispose of the writ petition by directing the District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, to constitute a joint team of officers drawn from Revenue Department, Mining Department, Public Works Department, Transport Department and Police Department, within 02 weeks, which will survey the link road in Gajraula and other alternative road/s available in the area and shall submit its report to the District Magistrate within 04 weeks and based on the report of the committee, District Magistrate shall take decision, as to whether transport vehicles carrying riverbed mineral can be diverted from Gajraula link road to some other road, as per law within two weeks thereafter.
