The report in the form of affidavit in terms of the earlier direction of this Court is filed today by learned counsel for the Howrah Municipal Corporation and the same is kept on record. 2. Despite service, none appears for the private respondents. 3. From the report dated September 7, 2026, being Annexure-“B” to the affidavit filed by the Howrah Municipal Authorities, it appears that a building plan for G+2 building was sanctioned by the Howrah Municipal Corporation in respect of the premises-in-question, but in utter deviation of the said sanctioned plan, a six-storied building has been constructed on the said premises. 4. It further appears that stop work notice and show cause notice were issued. 5. In the circumstances, WPA No. 26360 of 2025 is disposed of by directing the authorities of Howrah 2 Municipal Corporation to take expedient steps for demolition of the unauthorized construction in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order to the Howrah Municipal Corporation. 6. There will be no order as to costs. 7. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
