Learned counsel for the State produces copies of the documents which demonstrate that the Prescribed Authority and the Block Development Officer, Ratua II issued a letter to the Additional District Magistrate (Panchayat), Malda on 17th September, 2026 seeking permission for extension of the time limit for election of the Upa Pradhan of the Panchayat. The application is still pending. In view of the above, the Prescribed Authority is directed to convene the meeting upon receipt of concurrence from the relevant authority, in accordance with law. The writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. 2 Since no affidavit has been invited, allegations contained in the writ petition shall be deemed not to have been admitted.
