For Petitioner(s): Mr.S.Sakthivel For Respondent(s): Mr.C.Gauthamraj, Standing Counsel for R.1 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 22509 of 2026 __________ Page2 of 4 ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed for the following reliefs:- “directing the respondents to pay interest of 12 percentage to the petitioners for belated payment of gratuity, leave salary, dearness allowance, provident fund and commutation of pension amounts within a time frame to be fixed by this Hon'ble Court.” 2. The case of the petitioners is that, after rendering more than two and a half decades of service in the respondent Transport Corporation, they had retired from service on 31.07.2025 and 31.01.2025, respectively. However, their terminal benefits have been settled to them only on 11.03.2026 but no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted a representation to the respondent dated 02.05.2026, requesting to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. 3. The learned Standing Counsel for the 1st respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of eligible and admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.
