By this application the petitioner has sought for bail in connection with NLPS Police Station Case No. 54/2026 (corresponding to G.R. Case No.174/2026) under Section 61(2)/298/299/196(2) of BNSS, 2023 read with Section 13(1) Assam Cattle Preservation Act. 3. The case started with the lodging of the ejahar dated 25.02.2026 where it is alleged that the petitioner has been indulging in the illegal cow slaughter and sell of cow meat at Khagori Gaon, Lakhimpur, Assam. 4. It is further alleged that on a search being made 18 kilograms of suspected cow meat was found and that the same was allegedly being sold in close proximity to a temple and nearby a residential house, which has caused serious concern along the local residence. 5. Mr. Chowdhury, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in the FIR although it is stated that the place where the petitioner has alleged to have sold the meat is near a temple but the exact place of the temple has not been mentioned. Moreover, he submits that the petitioner has been inside the jail for 13 (thirteen) days and that all the alleged cow meat has been seized by the police authority. 6. Mr. M.P. Goswami, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the State of Assam, however submits that the possession and selling of the cow meat was near a temple, which was against the law, which might inflame religious sentiments and as such he objects to the bail. 7. On consideration of the submissions made by the learned counsel for the parties. Moreso due to the fact that the petitioner has been of 22 years of age and he has been detained for some days in the jail, the Court deems it fit that Page No.# 3/4 the petitioner be released on bail on furnishing a bail bond of Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand) only with one local surety of the like amount to the satisfaction of the learned CJM, North Lakhimpur, Lakhimpur under the following conditions:- 1. That the petitioner will not repeat the same offence again and is found of repeating the same, the appropriate steps will be taken. 2. That the petitioner shall appear before the Investigating Officer within 7(seven) days and co-operate in the investigation as and when required; 3. The petitioner shall not leave the territorial jurisdiction of the police station, without prior written permission from Officer-in-Charge, NLPS Police Station. 4. That the petitioner shall not hamper or tamper with the investigation in any manner; and 5. That the petitioner shall not, directly or indirectly, make any inducement, threat or promise to any person/witness acquainted with the facts of the case so as to dissuade him/her from disclosing such facts to the Court or to any police officer in connection to this Police Station Case. 8. If any of the conditions are found to be violated then the Investigating Officer shall be at liberty to seek cancellation of the bail granted to the Page No.# 4/4 petitioners. 9.
