Petitioners have prayed for direction upon concerned police authority to take necessary steps in connection with pending criminal prosecutions; genesis of such prosecutions are complaints lodged by petitioners alleging that by providing wrong information principal accused namely, Raja Chatterjee settled marriage and subsequently exploited them in different ways. Prayer is also made for transferring investigation to another independent investigating agency. 3. Learned advocate representing State respondents has filed three communications dated 13th September, 2026 of Officer-in-Charge, Durgapur Women Police Station, 11th September, 2026 of Commissioner of Police, Siliguri and 14th September, 2026 of Inspector-in- Charge, Rampurhat Police Station and same are taken on record. 4. It appears from communication dated 13th September, 2026 that while investigating Durgapur Women Police [2] Station Case No.27/2026 dated 1st August, 2026 notices were issued under relevant provisions of BNSS, 2023 to record statement of petitioner no.2. Steps were also taken to obtain call details record (CDR) of relevant mobile numbers to facilitate the investigation. It is also disclosed that victim lady expressed unwillingness to undergo medico legal examination. Raids were conducted on several occasions to nab the accused person but subsequently, police got information that respondent no.12 being the principal accused committed suicide on 30th August, 2026. 5. In view of steps taken by the concerned police authority Court is not inclined to direct that investigations need to be transferred to another independent investigating agency. 6. However, concerned police authorities are directed to take the investigations to logical conclusion by filing report before the jurisdictional Magistrate at an early date. 7. Petitioners are directed to cooperate with the investigating agency. 8. Writ petition stands disposed of. 9.
