The Prescribed Authority is present before this Court and submits an explanation as called for vide order dated 15th September, 2026. The explanation is far from satisfactory. The Prescribed Authority is cautioned not to repeat such act in future. This Court is informed that a fresh motion for removal of the Upa Pradhan has been submitted by the members of the Panchayat. The Prescribed Authority is directed to deal with the same strictly in terms of Section 12 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, particularly the time frame stipulated therein. The personal appearance of the Prescribed Authority is dispensed with. The Officer in Charge, Raninagar Police Station, being the 6th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that
2 the meeting is held peacefully and without any disturbance from any corner whatsoever. The police authority shall ensure safe passage of the members to the venue of the meeting in order to enable them to cast their votes freely, safely and independently. The parties are at liberty to communicate the gist of the order to the 6th respondent at once. In view of the above, nothing further remains to be adjudicated in the application. The same is disposed of. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh, J.)
