Heard Ms. T Som, learned counsel for the petitioners. Also heard Ms. S. H. Borah, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, Assam. By this application, filed under Section 483 of the BNSS, 2023, the petitioners, namely, (1) Biki Thapa and (2) Doni Thapa have prayed for release on bail, who are in custody in connection with Geetanagar P.S. Case No. 01/2026. In the FIR, it is alleged that 16 nos. of steel made water tap, 3 nos. of metal taps of gas burner and one aldrop from a house were stolen. Police arrested these two petitioners on the basis of CCTV footage. The petitioners have already spent 21 days in judicial custody. I have considered the submission made by the learned counsel for both the sides. Considering the period of detention already undergone by the petitioners, the prayer for bail of the petitioners is allowed. Accordingly, it is hereby directed that the petitioners, Biki Thapa and Doni Thapa, who are in custody in connection with Geetanagar P.S. Case No. 01/2026 shall be released on bail of Rs.20,000/- each with one surety of like amount to the satisfaction of the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (M), Guwahati. The bail application is disposed of.
