The petitioners who are members of Sahajadpur Gram Panchayat seek a direction upon the police authority to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority in order to avoid any breach of peace in the meeting fixed by the Prescribed Authority on 25th September, 2026 for election of the new Pradhan. In view of the fact that the meeting for election of the new Pradhan has been fixed on 25th September, 2026, the Inspector in charge, Berhampore Police Station, being the 6 respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held peacefully without any disturbance from any corner whatsoever. The police authority shall ensure safe passage of the members of the Panchayat to the venue of the meeting in order to enable them to cast their votes safely, freely and independently. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall however, be no order as to costs. 2 Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
