O R D E R The present writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the delayed disbursement of petitioner's terminal benefits, including, provident fund, gratuity and terminal leave salary for the period from the date of petitioner's retirement till the date of actual disbursement and consequently direct the respondents to settle the same to the petitioner within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court. 2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is a retired employee of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and the petitioner has retired from service on 31.03.2025. However, the respondents has disbursed the retirement benefits to the petitioner belatedly. Hence, the petitioner is now claiming 6% interest for the belated payment of retirement benefits. 3. 4. Considering the submissions made on either side, this Court is of the considered opinion that the petitioner is entitled to 6% interest for the belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursement. 5.
In view of the above, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the belated disbursement of retirement benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursement within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
