The petitioner was appointed on provisional basis in the cadre of West Bengal Medical Education Service on May 19, 2026 as an Assistant Professor in the discipline of Anesthesiology. She had thereafter participated in the recruitment process for the post of “Assistant Professor, Grade-I (Anesthesiology)” of DR. B.C. ROY Multispecialty Medical Research Centre in IIT, Kharagpur. 2. The petitioner has been selected and has applied for a no objection/technical resignation from her post at Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay Government College and Hospital at Uluberia, Howrah. The last date for joining DR. B.C. ROY Multispecialty Medical Research Centre in IIT, Kharagpur, is November 17, 2026. 3. In view thereof, the petitioner’s application which is nothing more than a technical resignation has to be read in the light of the Rule 33(2) of the West Bengal Services (Death-cum- Retirement) Rules, 1971. P a g e | 2 4. The concerned authority is directed to take a decision on this issue by October 10, 2026, and communicate the resultant order to the petitioner by October 15, 2026. 5. With the afore-stated direction, the writ petition is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs. 6.
