Mr. Suraj Mishra, Adv. …For State 1. During course of hearing it has been brought to the notice of this Court that after order was passed on 5th August, 2026 a Special Leave to Appeal (Crl.) Nos.15935-15936/2026 was preferred and Hon’ble Supreme Court vide order dated 25th August, 2026 dismissed the special leave petition(s) as withdrawn with liberty to petitioner to approach appropriate forum for relief(s). Copy of the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 25th August, 2026 is taken on record. 2. By order dated 5th August, 2026 Inspector-in-Charge, Basanti Police Station was directed to provide protection to the family members of petitioner who are staying at the residence of petitioner by making necessary arrangements though it was recorded in the said order that concerned police authority had set up a police camp within close proximity to the residence of petitioner for protecting family members of petitioner. 3. Mr. Rajdeep Mazumder, learned Additional Advocate General representing State respondents has filed a [2] communication dated 21st September, 2026 of Inspector-in-Charge, Basanti Police Station and same is taken on record. Copy of the said communication is made over to the learned advocate representing petitioner. 4. It is disclosed in the said communication dated 21st September, 2026 that necessary police arrangements have been made at the residence of petitioner which situates at Shimultala, P.S. Basanti, District: South 24 Parganas for providing security to the family members of petitioner. In addition thereto a temporary police camp has been set up at the locale where petitioner’s residence situates and armed police personnel are deployed for maintaining security and to prevent untoward incident. It is also disclosed in the said communication that regular patrolling at the area is being continued. 5. In view of steps taken by the concerned police authority, no further order need be passed on this writ petition except directing police authorities to provide protection, if situation so arises. 6. In addition thereto Deputy Inspector General of Police (Legal), West Bengal is directed to intimate petitioner by fortnight from date about FIRs pending against petitioner as on date and particulars thereof by forwarding a letter. 7. Leave is granted to learned advocate representing petitioner to amend cause title of this writ petition and array Deputy Inspector General of Police (Legal), West Bengal as additional respondent in course of this day. [3] 8. However, service of notice upon additional respondent stands dispensed with since State respondents are represented by learned Additional Advocate General. 9. Writ petition is disposed of. 10.
