The Union of India and others. --------------- Mr. Avishek Prasad, Mrs. Sreetama Neogi, Mrs. Riya Ballav, Ms. Shreyashi Manna. … for the petitioner. Ms. Monika Roy, Mr. Atanu Sur. … for the respondent nos. 2 & 3.. 1. The affidavit of service filed today is taken on record. 2. The petitioner is aggrieved that incorrect entries have been made a ground to refuse his pension. 3. The incorrect entries create conundrum. The petitioner after retirement became an ascetic. However, in spite of renouncing the world, he is rather attached to his pension. He is not willing to let go of the pension though, according to Mr. Prasad, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner, he has given up other worldly pleasure. 4. The petitioner has not only changed his name but seems to have opted for a new parentage. The father’s name of the petitioner appearing in the cause title as well as in the prayer is ostensibly different. 2 5. Mr. Prasad, however, submits that this is a typographical error and prays for correcting the same. Such leave is granted. 6. The petitioner will present all requisite documents including the gazette notification as required under the relevant Rules of the Employees Provident Fund Organization Guidelines. 7. Ms. Roy, learned Advocate appearing for the respondent nos. 2 and 3, submits that there are certain steps, which have to be taken and the documents presented, which she undertakes to intimate to the Advocate-on-Record of the petitioner within September 23, 2026. 8. Upon receipt of such particulars, the petitioner will take all necessary steps to furnish the necessary documents along with the application to the respondent no. 2 by September 30, 2026. The authorities will consider and if found eligible in consonance with the Rules and Regulations, allow the application for change of the name of the petitioner and disburse the pension and arrears thereof in accordance with law. 9. The entire exercise by the authorities will be concluded within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of the application of the petitioner. 10. With the afore-stated directions, the writ petition is disposed of. 3 11. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. 12.
