IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA Constitutional Writ Jurisdiction Appellate Side Ct.19 15.09.26 Item No.03 Sws.M CPAN 739 of 2026 AJIT KUMAR KARAK VS. SOURAV PANDEY in WPA 15117 of 2023 AJIT KUMAR KARAK VS. STATE OF WEST BENGAL AND ORS. Mr. Biswajit De Ms. Mallika Manna Mr. Subhajit De …..for the petitioner Mr. Dibarish Basu, AGP Ms. Jayita Dhar Chakraborty, JGA Mr. Joy Ranjan Dhar …..for the alleged contemnor 1. The writ petitioner and the alleged contemnors are represented by their respective counsel. 2. The alleged contemnor, Shri Sourav Pandey, the Additional District Magistrate and District Land and Land Reforms Officer, Paschim Midnapore, is present in person before this Court, pursuant to the order dated 23.07.2026. The presence of Shri Sourav Pandey is recorded and his personal appearance in connection with the instant contempt application is dispensed with. 3. On behalf of the alleged contemnor an affidavit of compliance is filed after serving a copy of the same to the learned advocate for the petitioner. The affidavit 2 of compliance as filed today on behalf of the alleged contemnor is taken on record. 4. On perusal of the affidavit of compliance as filed today, vis-à-vis the copy of the order dated 17.06.2026, as passed by this Court in WPA 15117 of 2023 (Ajit Kumar Karak vs. The State of West Bengal & Ors.), this Court finds sufficient compliance on the part of the alleged contemnor. 5. Learned advocate appearing on behalf of the writ petitioner alleges that the alleged contemnor has failed to maintain the timeline as fixed by this Court. It appears that such contention is more or less correct. In view of such, this Court while disposing the instant contempt application having been infructuous now, requests Shri Sourav Pandey, Additional District Magistrate and District Land and Land Reforms Officer, Paschim Midnapore, to remain careful regarding compliance of the order of this Court in future. 6. With the aforementioned observation, the instant contempt application is disposed of. (Partha Sarathi Sen , J.)
