For the Petitioners Ms. Sudipa Bhattacharya Mr. Bikramjit Mondal …. For the State Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioners is taken on record. The office of the Sabhadhipati and Sahakari Sabhadhapati, Malda Zilla Parishad fell vacant upon their resignation which was accepted on 16th August, 2026. The petitioners seek a direction upon the Prescribed Authority to convene the meeting for election of the new Sabhadhipati and Sahakari Sabhadhapati and conclude the proceeding in accordance with law. Since the office of the Sabhadhipati and Sahakari Sabhadhapati is lying vacant, the Prescribed Authority and the Divisional Commissioner, Malda being the 3rd respondent herein, is directed to convene the meeting within 10 days from the date of communication of this order upon service of notice to all concerned and take the proceeding to its logical conclusion in terms of Rule 6(1) of West Bengal Panchayat (Constitution) Rules, 1975 including concurrence of the District Panchayat 2 Election Officer, being the 4th respondent herein, at the earliest. The Inspector in Charge, English Bazar Police Station, being the 7th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held peacefully without any hindrance from any corner whatsoever. The police authority shall ensure safe passage of the members including the petitioners herein to the venue of the meeting so that they are able to cast their votes freely, safely and independently. The writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit has been invited, allegations contained in the writ petition shall be deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on compliance of requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh, J.)
