…for the Alleged Contemnor no. 2
1. Learned Advocate representing the petitioner is present. 2. The alleged contemnor Nos. 1 and 2 are represented by the learned Advocates. 3. At the time of hearing, learned Advocate appearing for the alleged contemnors submits that the direction passed by this Court on 26.09.2025 has duly been considered and acted upon by the concerned authorities. It is further submitted that the convict, namely, Ananda
2 Nandi, has already been released from the concerned Correctional Home on 10.09.2026. 4. In support of such submission, a photocopy of the written communication dated 10.09.2026 exchanged between the ADG & IG, Correctional Home Services, West Bengal and the Superintendent, Midnapore Central Correctional Home is handed over before this Court. The said communication records that the convict, Ananda Nandi, has already been released from the Correctional Home after remitting the unexpired portion of his sentence of imprisonment for life. 5. The aforesaid communication, being handed over on behalf of the alleged contemnors, is taken on record. 6. In view of the aforesaid compliance with the direction passed by this Court and the subsequent release of the convict, no further purpose would be served by keeping the contempt proceeding pending. 7. Accordingly, the contempt application, being CPAN 355 of 2026, stands dropped. 8. At the very outset, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner brings to the notice of this Court that, due to an inadvertent typographical error, the name of the petitioner has been wrongly recorded as “Srikanta Mondal @ Shrikanta Mandal” in the order dated 07.09.2026. 9. It is submitted that in the said order, the name
“Srikanta Mondal @ Shrikanta Mandal” ought to be deleted and, in its place and stead, the name “Ananda Nandi” should be incorporated. 3
10. Upon perusal of the order, the mistake appears to be apparent on the face of the record and is clearly attributable to an inadvertent typographical error. 11.
Accordingly, the necessary correction be carried out in the order dated 07.09.2026. The name “Srikanta Mondal @ Shrikanta Mandal” shall stand deleted and the same shall be read as “Ananda Nandi” wherever such correction is required. 12. Let the order be read conjointly with the order dated 07.09.2026
