The petitioners who are members of Sahajadpur Gram Panchayat submitted a no confidence motion seeking removal of the Pradhan of the Panchayat before the Prescribed Authority pursuant to which the Prescribed Authority by a notice issued on 2nd September, 2026 fixed the date of meeting on 16th September, 2026. The petitioners seek a direction upon the police authority to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held without any hindrance. Since the meeting for consideration of the no confidence motion is fixed on 16th September, 2026, the Inspector in Charge of Berhampore Police Station, being the 6th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary 2 assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held peacefully and without any disturbance from any corner whatsoever. The police authority shall ensure safe passage of the petitioners to the venue of the meeting in order to enable them to cast their votes freely, safely and independently. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
