ORAL ORDER
Learned counsel for the petitioners as well as learned counsel for the respondent No.2 jointly submit that the parties have amicably settled their dispute. As such, they may be permitted to compound the offences and accordingly, the proceedings may be quashed against the petitioners.
2. The petitioners have filed an application under Section 320 of the Cr.P.C. seeking permission to compound the offences alleged against them. Admittedly, the offences alleged against the petitioners are non-compoundable in nature. However, having regard to the fact that the dispute between the parties is purely private and matrimonial in nature, and in view of the principles laid down by the Hon'ble Apex Court in GIAN SINGH V. STATE OF PUNJAB AND ANOTHER, reported in (2012) 10 SCC 303, I am of the considered opinion that the

settlement arrived at between the parties can be taken into
consideration.
3. It is submitted by both sides that the dispute has been amicably settled. Petitioner No.1 has agreed to pay a sum of Rs.20,00,000/- to respondent No.2 towards permanent alimony. Out of the said amount, respondent No.2 has already received a sum of Rs.15,00,000/-, and petitioner No.1 has undertaken to pay the balance amount of Rs.5,00,000/- before the Matrimonial Court.
4. In view of the amicable settlement arrived at between the parties and considering the nature of the dispute, the application filed under Section 320 of the Cr.P.C. is allowed. The petitioners and respondent No.2 are permitted to compound the offences.
5. Consequently, the petition is allowed. The proceedings against the petitioners/accused Nos.1, 3 to 5 in C.C.No.56501/2022 (arising out of Crime No.185/2022 registered by K.R. Puram Police Station) for the offence punishable under Section 498A r/w Section 34 of IPC and

Sections 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, presently, pending on the file of X ACMM, Mayo Hall, Bengaluru is hereby quashed.
