The writ petition filed by this petitioner was allowed by order of this Court dated 20.12.2023, and the following direction has been issued. "24. Accordingly, this writ petition is allowed and the order passed by the second respondent in his proceedings No. M.4/48631/2008 dated 22.04.2009 is set aside and the matter is remanded to the District Administration for fresh consideration. In the event, the District Administration thought it fit that patta cannot be granted to the subject Tank, the matter can be referred to Commissioner of Land Administration, Chennai and the same shall be decided by the Commissioner of Land Administration, Chennai, in accordance with law. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed." 3. When this Contempt Petition is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents by referring to the proceedings of the District Revenue Officer, Kanyakumari District in 2/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis Cont.P.(MD)No.651 of 2026 Na.Ka.M4/1992789/2024, dated 24.11.2025, submits that, as directed by this Court in W.P.(MD)No.3913 of 2009, an enquiry was conducted and the enquiry report has also been forwarded to the Commissioner of Land Administration for necessary orders. 4. In view of the proceedings of the District Revenue Officer, Kanyakumari District, nothing survives in this Contempt Petition and therefore, this Contempt Petition is closed. However, the Commissioner of Land Administration, Ezhilagam, Chepauk, Chennai is directed to decide the matter in accordance with law within a period of five months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
