For Petitioner : Mr.R.Senthilkumar For R1 – R3 : Mr.D.Rajabopathy Government Advocate (Crl.side) ORDER Seeking to grant permission and provide adequate police protection for conduct of temple festival scheduled to be held on 05.07.2026 at Arulmigu Sevuga Perumal Ayyanar Temple in Paiyoor village, Sivagangai Taluk , Sivagangai District, and consequently grant permission for Valli Thirumanam Drama on the same temple festival on 04.07.2026 based on the petitioner's representation on 19.05.2026, this writ petition is filed. 2. Since no adverse order is passed against the private respondents, notice to the private respondents is dispensed with. 3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that 300 families are residing at Paiyoor village, for whose interest, Arulmigu Sevuga Perumal Ayyanar Temple has been established and the same is subsisting for the past more than 100 years. For the purpose of conduct of temple festival, every year 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.Crl.(MD)No.3124 of 2026 the villagers together discuss and form a committee as the temple festival committee, who in turn would conduct the temple festival. The traditional Kaappu Kattuthal ceremony would be conducted, followed by Puravi Eduppu festival at temple. On 03.05.2026, while the villagers had gathered for deciding the Puravi Eduppu festival which to be conducted on 05.05.2026, one Arumugam s/o Balu was selected as Festival Committee President, Kalimuthu s/o Bose was selected as Secretary, and Muthu, s/o Santhanam was selected as Treasurer, and the festival work has already commenced from 03.05.2026. However, the respondents 4 to 6 are continuously causing disturbance and hindrance to the festival committee in proceeding with the festival related works. Hence, the petitioner had caused representation. The same is not considered. Hence, this writ petition. 4. The learned Government Advocate submitted that the petitioner's representation was received and C.S.R.No.879 of 2026 was issued, duly enquiry has been conducted and closed. 5. In view of the submission made by the learned Government Advocate(Crl.side) that already enquiry has been conducted and concluded after putting the petitioner and the respondents 4 to 6 and other villagers on notice on the assurance from the respective villagers to cooperate with the peaceful conduct of the temple festival, this Court hereby direct the respondent police to provide adequate police protection for the peaceful conduct of the temple festival at Arulmigu Sevuga Perumal Ayyanar Temple in Paiyoor village, Sivagangai Taluk , Sivagangai District. It is made clear that the private respondents should not hinder the festival by all means. 7.
