Affidavit of service filed by the petitioners is taken on record. Pursuant to a no confidence motion submitted by the petitioners before the Prescribed Authority, the Prescribed Authority by a notice issued on 24th August, 2026 fixed the date of meeting on 8th September, 2026. The petitioners seek a direction upon the Prescribed Authority to hold the meeting on the said date and a further direction upon the police authority to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held without any hindrance. In view of the above, the Prescribed Authority and Sub-Divisional Officer, Jangipur, being the 3th respondent herein, is directed to conduct the meeting on 8th September, 2026 and take the proceeding to its logical conclusion, in accordance with law.
2 The Officer in Charge of Suti Police Station, being the 5th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held peacefully and without any disturbance from any corner whatsoever. The police authority shall ensure safe passage of the members to the venue of the meeting so that they are able to cast their votes freely, safely and independently. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh, J.)
